This blog post includes everything you need to know about the Autumn Stroll Earwarmer, which is a crochet pattern included in my debut book, “The Art of Crochet with Sock Weight Yarn”. Here, you’ll find all of the links, resources, photos needed to be successful in the pattern.

Beginner-friendly, easy, and less than one skein – what’s not to love about the Autumn Stroll Earwarmer? This lightweight earwarmer is oh-so-perfect for those autumn or spring mornings.

The Autumn Stroll Earwarmer is just one of 15 patterns included in my book, “The Art of Crochet with Sock Weight Yarn”.

Hand-dyed indie yarn isn’t only for knitters! These 15 crochet patterns are designed to highlight the best features of lightweight, delicate sock-weight yarn, so you can create high-quality garments and accessories with every color you’ve been dreaming of. From supporting independent dyers to stitching larger projects with intricate details, my easy-to-follow instructions will transform you into a pro at crocheting with this luxurious handcrafted yarn.

Beginners and seasoned crocheters alike will adore the soft, detailed textures of my elegant designs. Try out exciting new colorways with easy 1-skein patterns like the Eloise Hair Bow or Autumn Stroll Earwarmer. Stitch up an heirloom garment to treasure for years with the Choose Your Adventure Cardi and Dragonfly Twist Wrap. Or, put the scraps from your favorite skeins to use with creative patchwork pieces like the Color Wheel Pillow or the Sassy Scrappy Blanket. These thoughtfully designed patterns are sure to make hand-dyed sock weight yarn a staple in your crochet collection!

Construction

This earwarmer is created from a long, flat rectangle. Then you will add a finishing row to all sides and crochet the two short ends together to form a twist and a closed loop.

This pattern is written in 5 sizes, for Toddlers-Adult Large

*Finished circumference measurements reflect the length after assembling the earwarmer. Before assembling the earwarmer into a loop, your work will be 1” longer.

** Finished width measurements include the sc edging.

Yardage

75 (93, 116, 150, 156)

Materials

  • Hook: 3.5mm, or hook to meet gauge
  • Yarn needle, scissors, flexible tape measure, blocking materials

Yarn Options

If you want to keep the focus on the texture of the earwarmer, pick a tonal yarn for this project. Sewrella Yarn (like the yarn in my sample) offers beautiful, seasonally appropriate Tonals all year round in-stock! Alternatively, you might find that a variegated colorway will create a striping effect along your earwarmer, if that is the style you’d like to lean into for this project!

Did you know that we dye our own yarn at Sass & Stitch? We feature 100% wool, naturally dyed yarn. Shop our in-stock yarn here!

Of course, you can work with pretty much any sock weight yarn you’d like, whether that be hand-dyed yarn or store bought yarn. Here is a list of sock weight yarn that can be purchased online, at a more accessible price point:

  • WeCrochet: Palette
  • WeCrochet: Stroll
  • WeCrochet: Twill
  • Hobbii: Soft Alpaca
  • Hobbii: Friends Sock Wool
