Hi, friends! I’m back with the second addition to the crochet Coco Collection – the Coco Coaster!
A little recap in case you missed it: I released the Coco Trivet in December of 2023 as a free pattern on my blog and YouTube channel! I designed the pattern after instantly falling in love with the stitch pattern. The zigzag spike puff stitch is so thick and durable, making it perfect for kitchen patterns.
The Coco Coaster is only the second installment in the Coco Collection, and it certainly won’t be the last! It utilizes the zigzag spike puff stitch – if you are unfamiliar with this stitch, you can watch a video tutorial here.
Once you’ve gotten yourself a little familiar with the zigzag spike puff stitch, you’re ready to make the Coco Coaster, which is the perfect way to continue practicing the stitch, while actually having a finished product at the end – that always feels good, right?
If you’re feeling confident and ready, then let’s go ahead and get started!

YARN
When crocheting an item that will be used around heat (like setting a hot cup of coffee on a coaster), it is very important to use cotton yarn. Acrylic yarn is made with plastic, therefor could melt when applied to hot objects for too long.
For this pattern, I used Cotlin Yarn, which is a cotton and linen blend! It is very soft to work with and comes in 40+ colors! Alternatively, any DK weight cotton yarn will work.
YARDAGE
60 yards per coaster
